Retina Associates has been providing ophthalmological care to residents of Tucson, AZ, southern Arizona and surrounding areas, since the practice was established in 1974. Staffed by four experienced doctors who are board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and who have undergone additional fellowship training concerning medical and surgical techniques. Retina Associates specializes in the treatment of problems of the retina and vitreous. Common problems treated at the practice include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, flashes, floaters, macular pucker, macular hole, retinal detachment, pediatric retina, second opinions and tumors related to the retina and choroid. The practice’s board-certified staff includes Cameron Javid, MD, April Harris, MD, Egbert Saavedra, MD, and Mark Walsh, MD.
New patients of Retina Associates should expect a first-time visit to last about two hours, while future examinations will move more quickly. The first visit to Retina Associates includes a full eye exam that is centered on the conditions affecting the retina and vitreous. Patients should keep in mind that a retina examination requires the eyes to be dilated.
